In his dying days, Yosef Zeinati was taken by Yitzhak Navon, then President of Israel, in an official car, to the Wailing Wall, so that he could kiss its stones for the last time. He died in Peqi’in at the age of 83.

During the 1980s, the Jewish Agency purchased some 15 homes in the village of Peqi’in. Some were the homes of Jews who had left. The goal of the purchase was to perpetuate the contiguous Jewish settlement in the village, which had not ceased since the days of Jewish settlement during the Second Temple Period.
